Geistlich invests in its Wolhusen site and increases capacity

From Wolhusen, Geistlich supplies high-quality biomaterials for medical regeneration to clinicians in over 90 countries. Geistlich is the world market leader in regenerative dentistry today. To increase capacity for the projected growth in volume, Geistlich wants to expand its production site in Wolhusen over the coming years.

As a family-owned company, Geistlich has always attached great importance to being independent and funds everything from its very own resources. Therefore, the entire site development is being designed on a modular basis so that it can be flexible in its response to market changes. The upcoming construction project, known as “The Hub”, forms the central building of the expansion and will be the largest building on the site when it is completed in 2026. This new manufacturing and logistics building will bring all cleanroom, packaging and logistics processes under one roof – activities that are currently performed in three buildings. Sustainability and planning in harmony with nature are important to Geistlich, so “The Hub” will be built as sustainable as possible.

With its investment in “The Hub”, which ranges between CHF 30 - 40 million depending on the standard of expansion, Geistlich is reinforcing its commitment to its Wolhusen site in Central Switzerland. Here the company intends to create 50-80 new jobs in the next five years. Ralf Halbach, Geistlich’s CEO, says: “We set the highest quality standards for our products. With the planned development of our site, we want to meet growing demand and have the ability to respond flexibly to market changes.” The design of “The Hub” is currently being worked on and should be submitted for planning permission by the end of the year.
